Let's Create and Atmosphere for God's Presence
"But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest."--(Matthew 9:36-38)
We're living in times for a greater harvest of souls to be gathered for the Kingdom of God. As we keep this in mind, we must be remindedof what Jesus said about gathering in the harvest. In Jesus' day, He looked out at the multitude of people who were in need of a shepherd. He saw their weakness, fainthearted, and the fact that they were scattered. As the scriptures mentioned, He moved with compassion. We too, must look out and see the same harvest of souls that still exist. The appearance of a thing or person is not always what it really is. In other words, it appears that many possessed the nature of Jesus, but they don't. They're in need of a Savior! "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. 3 For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. (Romans 10:2-3)
People are longing for and needing a Savior. The scene hasn't changed much at all. As a matter of fact, prophesy is being fulfilled, because people have drifted further away from God since the time of Jesus' ministry. “For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths." (2 Timothy 4:3-4) The Apostle gave Timothy a sharp warning of the end times and a stern charge to preach and teach sound doctrine. In doing so, this within itself will put Timothy in a place of creating an atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to have full control. If the Spirit of Christ has full control of our worship hour, He will then save, deliver, heal and bring purpose to each disciple. This can only be done in an atmosphere created by the God's people. In this atmosphere we must experience worship, praise, respect and honor to our Heavenly Father. Whenever we chose to neglect the very thing we should be doing, we will always experience the consequences of that neglect.
In other words, if we're not teaching sound doctrine for edification and empowerment, the people will depart from the true faith and devote their time to seducing spirits. Paul wrote to Timothy in his first letter and said, "Now the Spirit expressly says that in later times some will depart from the faith by devoting themselves to deceitful spirits and teachings of demons, through the insincerity of liars whose consciences are seared, who forbid marriage and require abstinence from foods that God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.” (1 Timothy 4:1-3) We must be willing to teach to create an atmosphere conducive for the Holy Spirit's presence, power and activity to be among the people for deliverance, salvation, purpose, power and prosperity to be made readily available to God's people. This can only be done when the atmosphere is charge with the apostolic truths of God's word.
